“Not your typical trophy” The Jr. Cowboys’ season did not end exactly how we wanted. Sometimes, however, the unexpected path leads to lessons that will last a lifetime. Along with the typical lessons that young boys learn from football like “working together for a common purpose” and “when you get knocked down get back up” our boys learned some much tougher ones as well. These 11 year old boys learned that sometimes grown ups don’t play by the rules-sometimes grown men think winning a boy’s game is more important than being good influences on those same young impressionable boys. Harder still, our team learned that sometimes those same people that don’t play by the rules are rewarded with wins and trophies. As the inscription on the championship size trophies our boys were given by the Enterprise Park and Recreation Department reads, our boys hopefully learned that when they do the right thing they will always be winners in the important things in life. I’m pretty sure in the long run this lesson will be more beneficial than winning a city championship by not playing by the rules.
